Celeste Winders is a highly experienced and trained advocate in public education working to ensure students with disabilities, BIPOC students and LGBTQIA+ students are able to fully access their right to a meaningful education. In 2018 Celeste completed the COPAA (Council on Parents, Attorneys and Advocates) SEAT training and since then has gone on to teach workshops at the annual COPAA Conference. Additionally, Celeste has provided many parent/guardian trainings and worked with organizations to ensure parent and student rights education.
In addition to her advocacy training in Special Education, Celeste is also a founding member of Save Your Six, an organization dedicated to educating and advocating for Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 in public education and has extensive experience with Title IX advocacy on behalf of LGBTQIA+ students. This deep understanding of the IDEA, Title IX and Title VI along with a vast knowledge of public education policies, mandates and state regulations has ensured Celeste the ability to advocate for students where intersectionality is centered in the team discussions and to secure her client’s educational experience encompasses meeting all of their needs and that their civil rights are protected.
Celeste’s advocacy practice is centered at all times in the unwavering belief that all children have the inalienable right to a public education that is valuable, meaningful and free of discrimination and/or harassment regardless of their circumstances.
